About Petrified Wood
Petrified wood is a type of fossilization process created from trees that have been buried by mud or water for thousands of years. Over time the original plant material is replaced with minerals such as silica, calcite, or pyrite, which fossilizes the wood and turns it to stone.
The pieces are then cut and polished to reveal the marble like gloss with the edges left in their original raw edge state. Each piece of petrified wood is a unique work of natural art with some pieces being millions of years old.
Due to natural the process of this material there will be variations or imperfections in size and colour from one item to the next and each may differ from the photographed sample.
